Her father, Mr.Joseph is a retired C.B.I. officer and at present he deals in some businesses. Her mother Seline Thottumkal is a surgeon and supports Asin with her film acting projects.
She studied in Naval Public School from LKG to X standard. She then had her Plus Two at St. Teresa’s School in Kochi. Subsequently, Asin completed Bachelor of Arts in English Literature at St. Teresa’s College in Kochi.

To begin with, Asin first made an ad assignment for BPL Mobile. Later, she Made her acting debut with Sathyan Anthikkad’s Malayalam film ‘Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka’. It released in the year 2001. At that time she was 15 years old. later, she took a break for one year to continue her studies and resumed acting in the films. Asin bagged the first commercial success with the Telugu film ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’ in 2003′ . And she won a Filmfare Best Telugu Actress Award for the film. Later she continued her career by debuting in Tamil film ‘M. Kumaran S/O Mahalakshmi’ which turned out to be a huge hit. The 2005 release film ‘Ghajini‘ was Asin’s third film in Tamil which brought her Filmfare Best Tamil Actress Award.

Most of her movies were successful and worth-noting such as dramatic thriller ‘Varalaru’ released in 2006, the action thriller ‘Pokkiri’ released in ‘2007.The romantic drama ‘Vel’ was her 2008 release. In continuation with her career in Bollywood, Asin starred in Anees Bazmee’s romantic comedy, ‘Ready’, in which she co-starred alongside Salman Khan. The movie was a super hit at the box office.
