M.G.Ramachandran:

 M.G.Ramachandran was born on 7 Jan 1917 in Kandy of Sri Lanka. M.G.Ramachandran debuted in the film ‘Sathi Leelavathi’ in 1936.Indeed, he got popularity for the movies ‘Manthiri Kumari’  and ‘Malaikkalan’ released in 1950 and 1954 respectively.  Later, he acted  in the Tamil movie ‘Alibabavum 40 Thirudargalum’ in 1955  as a hero. Besides this film, the movies such as‘Thirudadhe’ and ‘Enga veettu Pillai ,’Ayirathil Oruvan’ , ‘Anbe vaa’,’ Mahadevi’,’Panam Padaithavan’,Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban got him to win the hearts of millions of Tamilions.

He won the National Film award for Best actor for the film ‘Rickshawakaran’ in 1972.

On the whole, He acted in many movies and most of them made him get close to the common man and the rich as well. His Last film was ‘Ullagam Suthi Paru’ released in 1984 when he Unfortunately had to undergo diagnosis with his kidney. 

       Apart from his successful film career,M.G.R wanted to try his luck in politics.Being busy acting in films, he joined the Congress party and  acted as a member till 1953. Later, he was attracted by the principles of D.M.K founder C.N.Annadurai and joined his hands with the party. M.G.R became a member of legislative council in 1962 and he first became an M.L.A in 1967.

 M.G.R remained steady in the party for few years. Later he started opposing the corruption in the party publicly. Consequently,he was dismissed from the party. Then he had to start a new party named All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK). He tried his best to take the party ambition in to the hearts of Tamilians through his movies like ‘Netru Indru Naalai’, ‘Idhayakani’, ‘Indru Pol Endrum Vaghga’. Hence, he succeeded to become Chief Minister of Tamilnadu  on 30 june 1977. He remained as the Chief Minister till 1987.

M.G.R breathed last on 24 December 1987 in Chennai.

         Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao(N.T.R):

        Nandamuri Taraka Ramarao well known as N.T.R was born on 28 May 1923 in a small village named Nimmakuru of Krishna distict in Andhra Pradesh.It was not a coincidence in his life to start film career.As soon as he completed his B.A,he got job as a Sub-Registrar in Madras Service Commission. But he worked hardly for three weeks because of of his strong passion for films. He decided to devote himself to acting and had an opportunity to perform a debut role in the movie ‘Mana Desam’as a police man.

N.T.R first acted in a Mythological film named ‘Maya Bazaar as Lord Krishna. This film brought him name and
fame.Following this, he performed the role “krishna’ in 17 films.Besides this, he played other Mythological characters like Rama, Vishnu, Shiva and so on.In his film career there are many worth remembering and worth mentioning movies like Lava Kusha,Raktha Sambandham, Ramu,Ramudu-Bheemudu’ Devudu Chesina Manushulu , Adavi Ramudu , Driver Ramudu , Vetagadu , Sardar Papa Rayudu , Kondaveeti Simham , Justice Chowdhary, Bobbili Puli, Yamagola, Dana veera Soora Karna and so on. He directed and acted in the film Shrimad Virat Veerabrahmendra Swami Charitra.After entering politics he acted in films like Brahmasri Viswamitra and Major Chandrakanth . His last film was Srinatha Kavi Sarvabhowmudu, a biopic on the Telugu poet Srinatha which released in 1993.

N.T.R entered politics and floated the Telugu Desam Party(TDP)in 1982. NTR entered politics when he founded the Telugu Desam Party (T.D.P) on 29 March 1982 in Hyderabad.Subsequently,The party won In the elections by tremendous majority.N.T.R was sworn in as the 10th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on 9 Jan 1983. He was the first non-congress chief Minister of the state.N.T.R served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh for around seven years.

  N.T.R received Padmasri award in 1968 from the Government of India and he has got National, Film Fare, and Rashtrapathi awards for his best acting. He received an honorary doctorate  from Andhra University in 1978.

   Jaya Lalitha:

         Jaya Lalitha was born on 24 February 1948 at Melukote of Karnataka.She belongs to Tamil AyengarBrahmin family.She acted as child artiste in ‘Sri Shaila Mahathme’ in Kannada movie in 1961 which starred Rajkumarand Krishna Kumari in lead roles.

Jayalalitha debuted in Tamil cinema in a leading role in Vennira Aadai released in 1965. The movie was directed by by C. V. Sridhar. Her debut movie in Telugu was as lead actress in Manushulu Mamathalu opposite Akkineni Nageshwara Rao. She was paired with Dharmendra in a Hindi movie named IZZat in 1968.It was said that she was the first heroine who wore skirts for the Tamil movies. Jaya Lalitha acted with M.G.Ramachandran in 28 box office hit films between 1965 and 1973.

Jaya Lalitha Starred in 12 films with N.T.Ramarao as heroine in Telugu such as Gopaludu Bhoopaludu released in 1967, Chikkadu Dorakadu released in 1967, Tikka Shankaraiah released in 1968, Niluvu Dopidi released in 1968, Baghdad Gaja Donga released in 1968, Kathanayakudu released in 1969, Kadaladu Vadaladu released in 1969, Gandikota Rahasyam released in 1969, Ali Baba 40 Dongalu released in 1970, Shri Krishna Vijayam released in 1970, Shri Krishna Satya released in 1971, Devudu Chesina Manushulu released in 1973. Jayalalitha acted in 7 films with Akkineni Nageswara Rao in Telugu.

Jaya Lalitha was introduced to politics by the then Chief Minister M.G.Ramachandran in 1982. Later, She joined A.I.D.M.K which was  founded by Ramachandran.She was member of the Rajya Sabha from 1984 to 1989.

After Ramachandra’s death, she contested in the elections in 1989 and became the member of the Tamilnadu Legislative Assembly. And she was reelected to the assembly in 1991 after Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. Jayalalitha was the first female and the youngest , Chief Minister of Tamilnadu . She remained in office as the Chief Minister from 24th June 1991 to 12th May 1996.Jayalalitha has served as the C.M for around 12 years so far and she remains in office at present.

Jayalalitha was awarded the Kalaimani by the government of Tamilnadu in 1972. She first received Doctorate from  Madras University and later got several honorary doctorates and other honours.
